In art and in engineering, the act of making is the process of wishful thinking made manifest. When we build, we seek to bridge the gap between aspiration and attainment, exploring a transitional zone between the tactile and the transcendent. Blueprints represent for me an archetype of ‘plans’ in the broader sense: a statement of intention, with infinite potential but no actual existence. The white lines convey information, but also stand as absence: blank unprinted paper in the interstices of the encompassing blue.
