General Information

The International Sculpture Center conference returns ten years later to the culturally vibrant city of New Orleans for the 24th International Sculpture Conference: Sculpture, Culture, and Community from October 1-4, 2014. This conference will feature panel discussions, keynote speakers, ARTSlams, optional tours, and networking events, and will explore how sculpture and the arts can rejuvenate communities and economies.

The 24th International Sculpture Conference is hosted in collaboration with the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans, Creative Alliance of New Orleans, New Orleans Arts District, New Orleans Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel, and Sculpture for New Orleans.

Early Bird Member Registration: CLOSED

Member Registration: $400- Ends September 15th
Membership must be valid through December 31, 2014 to receive this rate.

Chapter Registration: $25 Discount on Conference Registration

Non-Member Registration: $500- Ends September 15th
Not an ISC member yet? To receive a discounted Early Bird Member Rate of $350, plus all other benefits of membership and great rates on other events, please contact membership@sculpture.org or 609.689.1051 ext. 301.

Student Registration: $175– Space is Limited! – Ends September 15th
Student registration includes 1-year membership, registration, and participation in the littleSCULPTURE show. Students must submit a copy of their current school ID or transcript showing full-time student status within 10 business days or they may be disqualified from receiving this rate. Copy may be sent via mail, fax, or email. Contact events@sculpture.org for more details.

Companion Registration: $100
Companions may attend the opening reception at Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Art at Xavier, Art for Arts’ Sake Gallery Hop, the littleSCULPTURE Show opening reception, Friday Nights at NOMA, and all of the optional tours at the additional fees. Companions may not attend the conference panels, keynote address, ARTSlams, mentoring sessions, or any other program not listed in the designated companion activities.

Late Registration: $500 Members/ $600 Non-Members. Open September 16th-26th
Late registration is limited, and is available on a first-come basis.

On-Site Registration: $600 Members/ $700 Non-Members. Space is limited.
If space is available, registration will be accepted on-site on October 1st and during ISC check-in and registration hours. Do not make travel plans without confirming space availability with ISC staff. Space is extremely limited. Keynote Speakers

Alice AycockAlice Aycock

Alice Aycock was born in Harrisburg, PA. She received a B.A. from Douglass College and an M.A. from Hunter College. Currently she is represented by Galerie Thomas Schulte in Berlin and Fredric Snitzer Gallery in Miami, FL. Her works can be found in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, NY, the Whitney Museum of American Art, Brooklyn Museum, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, LA County Museum, and the National Gallery, among others. She has had two major retrospectives. The first surveyed her work between 1972 and 1983, organized by the Wurttembergischer Kunstverein in Stuttgart, and the other retrospective entitled “Complex Visions” was organized by the Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, NY. In 2013, a retrospective of her drawings was exhibited at the new Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York coinciding with the Grey Art Gallery in New York City. The retrospective travelled to the Art, Design & Architecture Museum at the University of California, Santa Barbara and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art in 2014. A fully illustrated catalogue, “Some Stories are Worth Repeating,” with an essay by Jonathan Fineberg accompanied the retrospective.

Aycock’s public sculptures can be found throughout the United States, including the San Francisco Public Library, a large-scale sculptural roof installation for the East River Park Pavilion on 60th Street in NYC, and “Star Sifter” for Terminal 1 at JFK International Airport. Other projects include a GSA commission for the Fallon Building in Baltimore, an outdoor piece entitled “Strange Attractor”, at the Kansas City Int’l Airport, and “Ghost Ballet for the East Bank Machineworks” in Nashville, Tennessee. A permanent public artwork for Washington Dulles International Airport, Washington, D.C. was completed in 2012, as well as a work for Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI. In March 2014, a series of seven sculptures were installed on the Park Avenue Malls in New York City, entitled “Park Avenue Paper Chase”.

Fairfax DornFairfax Dorn

Fairfax Dorn is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of Ballroom Marfa, a non-profit cultural art space dedicated to exploring varied perspectives and issues through the visual arts, film music and performance. Since 2003, Fairfax has been responsible for the artistic and programmatic vision of Ballroom Marfa. She is also the Co-Founder of the Marfa Dialogues, an inclusive public forum which utilizes art to address the pressing issues of our time. In addition to her directorship of Ballroom Marfa, Fairfax served as Guest Curator and Interim Program Director for the Linda Pace Foundation. Fairfax is currently a board member for Judd Foundation, New York, NY and Marfa, TX; Triple Canopy, Brooklyn, NY; Bunker259, Brooklyn, NY and the Centre Pompidou Foundation, Los Angeles, CA. Prior to Ballroom Marfa, she worked at the Whitney Museum of American Art and Exit Art in New York. Fairfax along with Virginia Lebermann received ArtTable’s 25th Future Women Leadership Award in April of 2005.
