To embrace sacrilege and piety simultaneously is
to embrace my own contradictory position—at
odds with cultural inculcation and gender roles.
My practice is born from the place where language
(one/both/in-between) fails completely.
Wax acts as a catalyst for fluidity, neither solid or
liquid. In wax casting, one material substitutes
for another, simulating an object by a more laborious
process than what made the original. The
time and commitment are not only useless but
prove that the structure is flawed.
