Joel Perlman was born in New York City in 1943. He received a B.F.A. from Cornelly University and a M.A. from University of California, Berkeley. He has been creating metal sculptures for more than thirty years. The angular and circular elements of his works are welded or cast in a way that recalls the early constructivist, and he pushes his forms into ever-more complicated, gravity defying configurations. Perlman exhibited at the Andre Emmerich Gallery for twenty five years and is represented in museums throughout the world.
