“NOW IS FIREWORKS” ELIZABETH DEDICATION

April 23, 2016 @ 1:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Elizabeth Neighborhood’s dedication is a celebration of the Neighborhoods in Creative pARTnership initiative, a collaboration among the City of Charlotte, Public Art Commission and ASC to facilitate neighborhood-based public art. “Wall Poems of Charlotte” artists Amy Bagwell and Graham Carew actively engaged with residents of Elizabeth throughout the design process to create the work of art, “Now is Fireworks.” Combining sculptural elements that reference the poem, “Now is Fireworks”, written about the neighborhood by Bagwell, this multi-site installation includes temporary elements as well as a permanent roundabout sculpture. The neighborhood’s community association secured additional funds to place Bagwell’s poem on the exterior wall of Studio K art gallery. Charlotte Viewpoint published an article, which provides further details about this successful and enticing initiative: http://www.charlotteviewpoint.org/article/3560/Traces-in-Elizabeth
