Sabine Senft is exploring global issues of migration and borders in a multi-faceted, interactive show juxtaposing and drawing parallels between her upbringing in divided Germany during the Iron Curtain Era and current geopolitical events. The anthracite industry fueled the Industrial Revolution in America. The best hard coal, slow and clean-burning deep mined “anthracite” was mined in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Stories and lore of the rough, gritty and dangerous lives of the immigrant coal miners of Scranton are known to the native population.
