Exhausted by our nation’s political noise, Zwart unveils a sculpture that represents what’s possible when people stop shouting and start listening. At the center of Zwart’s show is a five-foot-high bundle of sticks painted blue and red, representing the colors of the Democratic and Republican parties. Caroline Bagenal’s Crossing Lines is a new body of work at the intersection of sculpture, drawing and painting. Although her practice encompasses works on paper, installation, and sculptural works, the drawn line runs throughout Bagenal’s work. Susan Lyman’s solo exhibition Washashore features her signature sculpture in wood evoking the body in the woodland landscape with simple juxtapositions of found wood, including fallen saplings, bark-covered pencils, root masses, burls, old yellow pine beams, and charred wood collected from coastal beach fires.
