Enjoy a unique weekend experience of Yorkshire Sculpture Park, organized for delegates of the ISC conference.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park will welcome delegates from the ISC conference on Saturday 10 April with registration and coffee from 11:00AM. This will be followed by an illustrated talk concerning ‘Sculpture and the Landscape’ by the YSP founding Director, Peter Murray OBE and discussion over lunch. On Sunday, en route back to London via motorcoach attendees will visit the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, Dean Clough to see the Boltanski installation, and other local galleries.
Delegates will then travel on to the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham where there will be a talk by one of the curators. Attendees will have refreshments at the gallery before travelling back to London.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park was founded in 1977 and is the largest of its kind in Europe, showing temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary sculpture in 500 acres of historic landscape and five indoor galleries. Works in the landscape include an extensive display of bronzes by Henry Moore, a permanent James Turrell Skyspace, three site-specific commissions by Andy Goldsworthy and over 80 sculptures by Barbara Hepworth, Mark di Suvero, Anthony Caro, Antony Gormley, Sol Le Witt and many others. The indoor programme includes the most important exhibition to date of work by Peter Randall-Page and ‘stone’ an international research project by Edinburgh College of Art, which is creating an archive of working practices from around the world as well as exploring the possibilities of the material in contemporary art.
