I am fascinated
by our culture’s dependence on mobility. While acknowledging
the attraction, I have been experimenting with the antithesis of movement.
My intention is to stop familiar icons of movement by obstructing
their paths. Wood is my immobilizing unit. The juxtaposition of manufactured
vehicles and a milled natural material becomes a metaphor. The wood,
forming a puzzle-like unit, surrounds and fills the vehicles.
