Assessment Rubric

This assessment rubric is suitable for use by teachers and students. It contains three sections. The assessment section labeled Design is intended for use in critiquing freehand work. The assessment section labeled Computer Technology is intended for use when critiquing work completed using computer-assisted technology or other computer design software. The section labeled Model is provided should you create a three-dimensional representation of the proposed design.

Use the following criteria to assess your completed project:

  • 5 Highly Proficient (demonstrates complete mastery)
  • 4 Proficient (demonstrates above average skill)
  • 3 Minimally Proficient (meets expectations)
  • 2 Partially Proficient (demonstrates some knowledge, shows inconsistencies)
  • 1 Not Proficient (demonstrates little or no skill)

Design
The final drawing presents clear and convincing evidence that the student
_____ shows careful planning to incorporate the projected uses of the sculpture garden space.
_____ demonstrates skill in the use of measurement as a drawing aid.
_____ demonstrates knowledge of scale and proportion.
_____ demonstrates knowledge of balance.
_____ pays careful attention to detail.
_____ demonstrates craftsmanship in finishing the art work.
_____ demonstrates perceptual skill and artistic choice in the creation of a design.
_____ creates a design consistent with the planning process.

Computer Technology
The final drawing presents clear and convincing evidence that the student
_____ understands the value of AutoCAD technology to the completion of a measured drawing.
_____ has a firm knowledge of and demonstrates skill in the use of AutoCAD as a drawing tool.
_____ demonstrates knowledge of scale and proportion.
_____ demonstrates knowledge of balance.
_____ demonstrates craftsmanship in finishing the design.
_____ demonstrates perceptual skill and artistic choice in the creation of a design.
_____ creates a completed drawing consistent with the planning process.

Model
The final model presents clear and convincing evidence that the student
_____ demonstrates skill in the use of measurement as a drawing aid.
_____ demonstrates knowledge of scale and proportion.
_____ demonstrates knowledge of balance.
_____ pays careful attention to detail.
_____ demonstrates craftsmanship in finishing the model.
_____ demonstrates perceptual skill and artistic choice in the creation of the model.
_____ creates a model consistent with the planning process.
