Unit of Study III.
Isaac Witkin - A Lifetime of Re-Inventing Oneself
Critique and Assessment

After the experience is complete, a debriefing replaces the rubric as a means of evaluating the success of the entire project. A rubric can be developed to respond to the studio portion of the unit, if desired. This critique session should be as open-ended as possible. Ask first for student impressions. The following prompts may be used, as necessary.

  • Was meeting the artist as you expected?
  • What was most memorable about this entire experience?
  • Was there a single response to a question or comment made by the artist that you found personally significant?
  • Has your concept or understanding of contemporary sculpture been modified as a result of this experience?
