The Old
Dionyssos Quarries
It is a single-artist-designed park commissioned by "Dionyssos Marbles
Ltd." in 1995. Artist Nella Gollanda designed this 35,000 sq.m. the
park during her visits to the site. The artificial hills accumulated from
the quarried marble during the years of operation, form steep slopes that
can be visited through a sculpted path and the support of old installations.

Aixoni
Sculpture Theatre
The Aixoni Theater is located on the Athens mountain of Hymettos. It is
situated at the entrance of an old quarry. The project begun in 1984 and
lasted for two years. Originally the quarry was unevenly leveled by colored
rock formations. Three stages have alternative and flexible uses and can
house any kind of open-air performance or exhibition. The stages are symmetrically
surrounded by the seating areas – made of large rocks and pieces of granite
-, water fountains, locally grown plants and trees.
