Established in 1992, the Cedarhust Sculpture Park is the most recent visual arts program at Cedarhurst, a private, not-for-profit institution for the visual and performing arts located in Southern Illinois, approximately 75 miles east of St. Louis. Comprised of 90 acres of manicured meadowlands, woodlands, nature trails, and a pond with an island, the sculpture park has grown from five pieces of sculpture to over fifty large-scale outdoor works over the past seven years. The impressive growth is due to an aggressive and dynamic loan program as well as through a supportive membership base and community enthusiasm.

The park highlights the varied realm of contemporary sculpture and displays works by nationally and internationally recognized artists as well as artists who are up-and-coming. Although the park found early and substantial growth through a loan program, new initiatives for the 21st century will include site-specific commissions as well as residencies and sculpture workshops for area students. General information on Cedarhurst Sculpture Park can be found in the 1996 publication, Sculpture Parks and Gardens of America by Jane McCarthy and Laurily Epstein. For information on the loan program/site specific work contact Bonnie Speed, Director of Visual Arts at (618) 242-1236 or email her at bas1011@midwest.net
