The Nassau County Museum of Art is a not-for-profit art
institution situated on 145 acres of County owned, federally protected
parkland and operated by an independent Board of Trustees.
The Nassau County Museum of Art has taken advantage of the
rolling hills and lush meadows that surround our building. Over thirty
monumental outdoor sculptures have been sensitively sited throughout our
acreage and can be viewed daily throughout the year. Most artworks are
on long term loan ranging from a minimum of three years to the indefinite.
Currently, artworks are on display by Fernando Botero, Mark
DiSuvero, Tony Smith, Chaim Gross, Marino Marini, August Rodin, Reuben
Nakian, Fernand Leger and Adolph Gottlieb to name a few. Lenders to our
collection include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Museum of Modern
Art, Artists and their representative galleries, Private Collectors and
the Collection of the Nassau County Museum of Art.
The Nassau County Museum of Art facility features a circa
1900 Georgian mansion that houses the Museum galleries; The Tee Ridder
Miniatures Museum - a separate space devoted to the display of miniature
furnished period rooms; an Educational Center - a studio space where art
instruction is offered for a variety of media and skill levels as well
as Formal Gardens designed by Marion Cruger Coffin in the early 20th century
that are now undergoing restoration. The Nassau County Museum of art presents
four to six major exhibitions annually, often including outdoor sculpture
within the exhibition theme.
