Mary K. O'Shaughnessy's Wood Street Gallery and Sculpture Garden is located in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago. It has been open for eight years, the interior gallery space is 5,000 sq. ft. divided into 5 separate areas. In 1999 we opened the sculpture garden, an 8,500 sq. ft. area adjacent to the gallery. The hours are Tuesday - Friday 11-5:30, and Saturday 10-5, or by appointment. There is street parking available. Tours are welcome. The gallery puts on 7 shows a year. The gallery is closed during the month of August.

As a commercial gallery, the purpose behind the creation of this urban sculpture garden is to help people visualize how a contemporary sculpture could look in their own gardens. So often people cannot see how a sculpture will look at their home, or how they can site it in a tight space. With the series of "rooms" that we have created, we can show them how they can achieve this by example. We also will help the client in the planning and installation of sculpture at their site. We do not display the sculpture on pedestals, but try to incorporate them into the flower beds or at the terminus of a path. This removes the feeling of the "white box" that pedestals create, and allows people to interact with the pieces. We have created a tranquil setting with 3 ponds and a stream, that allows people to sit and relax and contemplate the natural beauty and the crafted art, and see how wonderful they work together.

Sculptors include John Adduci, Christopher Furman, David R. Nelson, Eric Nordgulen, Gene Flores Roger Colombik, John Van Alstine, Richard Heinrich and Zelda Werner.

Collection IV is an exhibition of works donated by internationally renowned sculptors to benefit programs of the International Sculpture Center.
