Two arts organizations have set up services to collect funds to assist artists and arts organization effected by the hurricane. In the November issue of the magazine, there is an ad for the Emergency Relief Fund organized by the Southern Arts Foundation, a 501(c)3 that can oversee such a program.
The other program is being handled by Americans for the Arts and this information is posted on the homepage of their website.
Rather than complicate matters with additional and separate efforts, we felt it wise to work with larger organizations that are better equipped to handle fundraising and the proper distribution of collected funds to aid in the relief of the hurricane's victims.
We recommend that any transactions to assist both artists and arts organizations be handled this way.
The International Sculpture Center (ISC) has temporarily placed memberships and subscriptions on hold in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina.
