My current body of work consists of freestanding,
wave-like forms in stone, metal, and wood. These “Swell Forms” derive from my interest in waves
and their movements. Transitory, fast-moving
forms of energy that can move over great distances,
waves are generated by specific natural
forces, such as winds or geological events, and
range in size from small ripples to huge
tsunamis. Using materials normally considered
static, I attempt to express movement and direction
and reveal an internal energy that seems to
give momentum to both object and material.
