My work is about the creation, evolution, and perception of built places. The way that buildings grovel and decay is my primary source material. Inspired by vernacular carpentry, I create spatial networks that grow from a central core. Each structure is sheathed with a translucent skin of wood. This work must be explored like a vast attic that is too condensed to physically enter: one stands on tiptoe to peer over it or crouches to see under it, attempting to make sense of a space that suggests a roofscape or the interior of a machine.
