My recent work investigates memory, interaction, and community. As I work through my memories, I am also searching my subconscious for a sense of the memory of origin. I think of origin in both a spiritual and a physical sense. By casting the belly buttons of friends, family, and strangers, I interact with each person in a subtly intimate manner. I am asking permission to cross a small social boundary. Since all the belly buttons are sharing the same wall, there is a reference to a common origin among all humanity.
