I Should Be Born as Boy, 2007. Low fired clay, glazed, 7" x 11" x 12".

In my works, the beautiful and the grotesque coexist within a single sculptural form. I am attracted to the contradictions that arise when the sensuous and the beautiful come into contact with unruly and abject aspects of bodily forms and functions. My work seduces even as it repels. I also consider our fascination with robots and cyborgs, wherein the duality of mechanical fabrication and sensuous physicality achieves a consummately marketed presence. These hybrid forms seamlessly conflate the messiness of bodily organs and fluids with the elegance, cleanliness, and predictability of advanced computer technology.
