I find comfort in the real, the handmade. As society
moves in the direction of virtual culture, people
are losing contact with the tactile, purchasing
things that cannot be passed down to the
next generation. In a here-today, gone-later-today
society, objects seem to lack history. I intervene
on behalf of the well-made, creating things that
are impossibly perfect. Constructing with drywall
allows me to build cheaply and rapidly, much like
today’s industry. But, in contrast, I use bronze,
steel, and mahogany in a traditional manner.
