From
the Editor
This issue of Sculpture
includes a special emphasis on European sculptors and sculpture, on the
occasion of the inauguration of the International Sculpture Center-Europe
(ISC-E) in Berlin on June 4th. In addition to ISC Board members Hartmut
Stielow and Claus Bury, as well as the ISC Board as a whole, those instrumental
in the founding of ISC-E are Ralf Kirberg and Anja Flicker of LHI Leasing
in Munich; Bernd Berge and Josephin Gable of the Foundation for Sculpture
in Berlin; Henning Kuerbis of Bethman and Co., Frankfurt; artists Rainer
Figur, Klaus Duschat, and Peter Fischer-Piel; art historians Axel Lapp
and Stefanie Bickel; Gottlieb Leinz of the Lehmbruck Museum, Düsseldorf;
Dieter Endres, a business consultant in Düsseldorf; Jürgen Fitschen,
director of the Gerhard Marcks House in Bremen; and Gertrud Kohler Aeschliman
of Modern Art Advising, Zofingen, Switzerland. Ralf Kirberg developed
the ISC-Es charter as a European nonprofit organization, with collaboration
from Detlef Olufs and Thorsten Beduhn from Haarmann Hemmelrath und Partners.
We will have more news soon on this exciting development!
