In
the past several issues, weve been highlighting our links to other
programs of the International Sculpture Center, including the recent tour
of Spiral Jetty and the founding of new relationships with the International
Sculpture Center Europe and Chicago Sculptors International. This issue
of Sculpture recognizes two of the ISCs three awards programs, the
Patrons Recognition Award (this year being presented to Sydney and Walda
Besthoff) and the Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture
Awards. To celebrate the upcoming ISC symposium in New Orleans (see page
10), were also highlighting the Big Easy in this issue, with profiles
of several new institutions there (including the Sydney and Walda Besthoff
Sculpture Garden at the New Orleans Museum of Art, Louisiana Artworks,
the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, and the Renaissance Arts Hotel, as well
as articles or reviews on several New Orleans-based artists, including
John Scott, Robin Levy, Sally Heller, and (in the on-line edition of Sculpture)
Christopher Saucedo.
