The Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park, which began as an informal partnership between an art collector and a young university, recently institutionalized itself with a board of directors, a full-time director/curator, public outreach, and a corps of volunteers. Located 30 miles south of Chicago, the park’s 27 outdoor sculptures (another is under construction) share 150 acres of Illinois prairie with Governor’s State University (GSU), which serves 6,000 students. Twelve of the sculptures were purchased, 10 were gifts, and five are loans.
