Next month marks an important return visit to New Orleans, where the ISC will be holding its 24th International Sculpture Conference—Sculpture, Culture and Community. This year, we will focus on the role of art in revitalizing communities. With its rich and diverse cultural heritage and vibrant contemporary creative community, the Big Easy is an ideal host city. Keynote speakers Alice Aycock and Fairfax Dorn, along with panels, art slams, workshops, and great side trips, round out what is set to be a great experience for all. There’s no better place to engage in conversation with peers and experience first hand the importance of sculpture and its unique and vital contribution to society. To register, visit www.sculpture.org.
In this issue, we announce the recipient of the 2015 Lifetime Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award—Joel Shapiro. The gala will take place in the spring, with more details to follow.
Next month, we will announce our full 2015 calendar, with exciting new programs and applications. Keep up to date by visiting and sign up for our mailing list.
And finally, don’t forget to follow the ISC blog, where you will find a great group of writers bringing up-to-the-minute reviews, studio visits, interviews, book reviews, and more.
Looking forward to seeing you in New Orleans.
