MOORE COLLEGE OF ART & DESIGN
Artist Talk: Anya Gallaccio
|
Students, educators and art enthusiasts gathered at Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia on November 11, 2011 to meet artist Anya Gallaccio and listen to her discuss her site-specific installations. Gallaccio is known for utilizing organic materials as her medium, for example, her installation, Intensities and Surfaces, where Gallaccio placed thirty, two-ton blocks of ice with a salt core in a boiler room, allowing it to melt; or her Stroke installation, in which she covered gallery benches and walls with chocolate.
After the discussion, attendees enjoyed networking and continued the conversation at a cocktail reception in Moore College of Art and Design’s Museum.
