From my earliest recollections, my work has always been representational in nature. It reflects a strong European tradition, while expressing the energy and vitality of contemporary life. Surface qualities of figurative works vary greatly; often the fabric is worked with tools that provide a rich texture, while flesh is worked smooth by hand. "I believe that the best artwork is discovered in the process of making it, and not necessarily preconceived at the outset of the commission".
Originally from Chicago, the artist's training includes the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Universities of Bowling Green State in Ohio, and Illinois State. There, he was fortunate to work with several renowned international artists, and was the recipient of many awards, honorariums and scholarships.
In 1981, the artist relocated in the Atlanta area, where he professionally pursues sculpture, painting and original print making. His work can be found in more than a dozen museum and university collections, and over 100 major corporate collections in the United States, Europe, Scandinavia and U.A.E. Additionally, he has been commissioned to create many site-specific works commemorating history, industry, and individuals.
