Much of my work is figurative because my instincts often lead me back to the figure. My work is not representational however. Mostly I work in hard plasters and in concretes of various sorts (winterstone, white cement with fiberglass, sand mix, cement and beach stone) because I like the manipulability of those media, their mass and texture. Influences? Henry Moore, whose work I first saw in the1960s, is somewhere in what I make, and I have a strong attraction to Marino Marini and the sculptures of Cy Twombly..
