RESUME
Steinunn Thorarinsdottir was born in Iceland in 1955 and lives and works in Reykjavik.
Studied in England and Italy from 1974-1980.
Steinunn has used the human being as her main means of expression throughout her career. She works with reliefs and free standing sculpture in various materials such as cast iron, aluminium, plaster, glass and concrete. She has done numerous commissions both for specific indoor spaces as well as outdoor works and monuments.

Steinunn has received various awards and grants, the most recent being The Order of the Falcon, awarded by the President of Iceland for her contribution to Icelandic and International Visual Art.

Among them are The Royal Carribbean, Hall Financial Group in Texas, Cathryn Hall Wineards in Napa Valley, California and the private collection of Sir Rocco and Lady Forte in England, Collection of Carl Gustav, the King of Sweden
She has been the Chairman of the Sculptors Association of Iceland, member of the board of The National Gallery of Iceland, Member of the board of the Visual Arts Committee of the Ministry of Culture, lectured at Cleveland State University, the Cleveland Art Institute, USA, Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Sydney Art School in Australia, Sculptor´s Union in Toronto, Goethe Institut in Toronto and Governor´s State University, Illinois. She is a member of the Board of The International Sculpture Center.
