  • Kathleen Farrell is the founder of Joliet based Friends of Community Public Art (FCPA). Working in community based public art for over 30 years; she has been creating large-scale figurative sculptures since 1998. She studied figurative sculpture under Preston Jackson at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1999 and 2000. Ms. Farrell has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Printmaking from L’Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Arts Decoratifs, Paris, France, 1978 and a Master of Arts degree in Popular Culture from Governors State University, Illinois 1975.

Ms. Farrell’s artwork is featured in the following books:

  • 2010 Sister Majella with Students, three figure life-size bronze sculpture, located at Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia.
  • 2010 William Maxwell, author, life-size bronze portrait bust, located at the Carnegie Library in Lincoln, Illinois.
  • 2009 Breaking Ground, a 130 % life-size bronze sculpture of one of the 200 African American woman WPA workers who created the gardens, located in the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in Norfolk, Virginia.
  • Lincoln Cemetery Monument design, to be located in the Lincoln Veterans Cemetery, Elwood, Illinois.
  • 2008 Boys to Men, 50% life-size cold cast bronzes sculpture of an older man teaching a high school age boy, located in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2007 Scarlet Rivera: Violinist, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture and mosaic, located in Joliet, Illinois
  • 2006 Justice, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture, located in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2005 Naperville Riverwalk Founders: Moser & Rybicki, two life-size bronze sculptures,  located in the Riverwalk Park, Naperville, Illinois.

  • 2002 Spirit of the River, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture of a youth surrounded by a ring of aquatic plants and fish, located in the Broadway Greenway Park in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2002 Underground Railroad Hero, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture, located in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2001 An Informed Public Makes Better Choices, three-quarter life size cold cast bronze sculpture, located at entrance to the Joliet Public Library, Black Road, Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2001 Katherine Dunham, Dancer and Civil Rights Leader, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture of pioneering African-American dancer Katherine Dunham, located in front of the Union Train station in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2001 New Trumpet, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture of a two-year-old boy holding a new toy trumpet, located in the Westfield Shopping Center, Route #30, Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2000 Air Force Hero, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture of  a World War Two hero , located in Sator Sanchez Park, Collins and Ohio Streets in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 2000 Boy and the Rose, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture of a child surrounded by a ring of rose buds and leaves, celebrating the rebirth of beauty. iSculpture was inspired by the Alan Ginsberg poem In Back of the Real. Sculpture is located in the Glenwood Manor Park on Infantry Drive near Black Rd. in Joliet, Illinois.
  • 1999 Mother Nature, life-size cold cast bronze sculpture located in the Broadway Greenway Park, Broadway and Moran Streets, Joliet, Illinois.
