The artist in me believes in the same minimalist philosophy that the art director/designer in me lives by. For each new sculpture my approach is to use less to say more, by means of concept development (as in a design project selling widgets), combined with the potential of the inherent characteristics of the medium or found object, and an occasional touch of dry humour. My aim is to present a concept in a light that transcends the norm of it’s perceived role or usage, to entertain as well as intrigue by allowing the viewer something to understand or feel. Life, manufacturing and nature have a lot to offer. Art and design may exist in different worlds for some, but not in mine!
