Martha Hopkins' concern in making art is to start with a minimal premise, and build on that to the point where it becomes one with an expressive quality, also.  She admires Sol Lewitt's way of planning a work and finds joy in geometric abstraction, but her desire is to synthesize both minimalism and expression, which she feels expresses both the masculine and the feminine.

She earned a BFA from the University of Alabama in 2004, concentrating in sculpture.  She has had her work represented in many juried and invitational exhibitions.  Her work is represented in the collections of the University of Southern Mississippi, University of Alabama at Birmingham,  Meridian Municipal Airport, Meridian, MS, Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation, Gadsden, AL, and in many private collections.
