Emptiness is openess.  Sculpting eye "spaces" instead of eyeballs arises from my theory of reality.  Drawing upon quantum mechanics I find there is no definitive particle or vibrating string that marks the origin or ultimate reality of the universe.  This opens the door to the possibility  of a reality I call emptiness, or perhaps spirituality.  Eye spaces offer the chance of uniting spirit and matter, mind and body, in artistic form. I am offering  a connection between the eye spaces, or openings, in a bronze sculpture and the mind or soul of the discerning observer. The light and indentation of darkness may calm the viewer to an awakening, a primitive meditative experience, a glance at uncertainty and the unknown.  I want to reveal ways to expand the range and depth of vision by sharing open dark places with subtle light.  Perhaps, a spark in the eye space will serve as a faint whisper that unites the bronze with the creative imagination of human conscousness,  giving life to the piece of bronze.
