Carol Schwartz is an artist/sculptor. She was born in Brooklyn, New York and attended Pratt Institute and the Art Students League. She now lives and works in Northern New Jersey.
People are at the core of her socially inspired work.
Schwartz addresses human dilemmas that leave us vulnerable and exposed. Life size and larger, her vigorously painted sculptures are a reflection of our self conscious and unselfconscious selves.
With a delightful playfulness and poetic sensibility she honors our authentic moments.
For the last several years she has been working in rough pieces of wood that she glues and dowels together to create mammoth yet graceful people. Alone and in relationships, they reflect issues concerning identity, sexuality, age and avarice. Her latest work is just shy of five feet in height and it gives voice and visibility to an aging population
Carol has been a recipient of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts Fellowship, in Sculpture and her work has been shown widely across the United States. To view additional work, go to: carolschwartzsculptor.com
