Since opening its doors in 1980, the Krasl Art Center (KAC) has maintained a firm commitment to collecting and advocating for sculpture and public art. The KAC’s collection includes contemporary sculpture at the regional and national level. Artworks are collected through both a biennial sculpture invitational and major purchases made approximately every five years. Artists in the KAC collection include George Rickey, Richard Hunt, Michael Dunbar, Dale Chihuly and John Isherwood, among several others.
The Krasl Art Center is located along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan, 90 miles east of Chicago, Illinois and southwest of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The KAC provides studio classes and creative opportunities to the community. Additionally, it is accredited by the American Association of Museums allowing national exhibitions to be displayed in its galleries and acknowledging its adherence to national standards of cultural stewardship in relation to the collection. As both art center and fine art museum, the KAC offers a truly unique experience to the residents and visitors of southwest Michigan.
