Gay Malin
Shadows walk.
Nothing is fixed
in time
or space.
What is
isn’t
What isn’t
may be.
I am influenced by the following:
ENERGY CAN EXIST WITHOUT MATTER
Question: Can we exist independently of our bodies?
NOTHING EXISTS IN A FIXED SPACE/TIME
Question: What is the nature of being?
THINGS CAN BOTH EXIST AND NOT EXIST, SIMULTANEOUSLY
Question: Can reality be separated from the act of observation?
I am currently exploring the idea of the viewer’s perception of and relationship to a work of art. As curator for a show “Uncertain Narratives: Alternate Realities”, I created pieces whose content is purposefully left vague, inviting the viewer into the process of creation. Viewers speculate on what might be transpiring, interpreting what they see through the lens of their own personal experience. At the end of the exhibit, their narratives are read aloud.
