MUZAFFER TUNCA’S BIO
MUZAFFER TUNCA was born in Polatli, Ankara, Turkey in 1950. He graduated from the Department of English Language and Literature with an MA Degree at Hacettepe University, Turkey, in February 1975.
He has been teaching English since then. Currently he is teaching EAP (English for Academic Purposes) and a joint philosophy course at Bilkent University, Turkey.
He has been involved in art for years. He didn’t take any formal art education but he worked with Turkish well-known painters, Esref Uren and Osman Zeki Oral in Ankara from 1978 to 1983.
He has a studio. He works there. He has been painting for over 30 years. He uses different media in his paintings. For over ten years he has been using some computer programs to produce his works. His approach to art is abstract. He prefers abstractions. For him, abstraction develops the painter’s creativity and helps him produce works perceived differently by each spectator.
Three years ago he began to make sculptures. He drew numerous sculpture sketches in his sketchbooks. He tries to turn the one dimensional image on his sketchbooks into a three dimensional one using a touchable, sensible and breakable material. By breakable he means changeable. Each dimension of his sculpture has a different shape and form. Why? Because nothing has one dimension, even if it is a human being. He defines himself as “I am a being of multidimensional. For me, life is an infinite-dimensional function space, at least mine.”
