The objects and installations that form the essence of my practice are composed through the reconfiguration of existing, mass produced, mundane, often found industrial materials. By reclaiming discarded industrially produced components, I examine perceptions of value within a given cultural context i.e. objects in a gallery setting vs. a domestic one. The work aims to decontextualize objects by removing them from their familiar social structures: often fetishizing the overlooked or unwanted. A dichotomy is produced as traces of any previously designated signifiers are rejected or muffled in order to perceive objects as purely formal abstractions resulting in a simultaneous attraction and alienation from the work. The objects themselves reveal no definitive answers, but rather pose questions concerning the history of the material, its use, and its undeniable status as a commodity.
