Brittany was born in Maryland in 1982, but outside of a couple years in Virginia and Delaware, she has lived in North Carolina since she left for college in 2000. Brittany Sondberg is an Assistant Professor of Art at Greensboro College where she teaches Sculpture, Contemporary Practice, Ceramics, Contemporary Crafts and Women's Art History. She holds a B.F.A. from East Carolina University in Metal Design (2004) and an M.F.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in Sculpture (2015).

Brittany primarily creates large-scale abstract work in steel, but also likes to experiment with wood and mixed materials. A majority of her works are intuitively constructed, open steel forms. In contrast to their material, they appear surprisingly delicate, like line drawings in space. This work contains symbolic forms and metaphorical plays on personal balance and stability. Most recently she has been experimenting with mark-making on the surfaces of the wood, clay and steel she uses by means of burning, carving and etching.
