Artists Statement

I can't help smiling when I recall seeing
the bright colors of my first childhood
garden, or discovering amazing designs
in the core of rocks I cracked open with
my father's hammer. Popsicle sticks and
rubber bands became my first sculptures.
sometimes my mother was watching
nearby, shaking her head with apparent
concern for my future--and she still may
be. Because now,as an adult artist,
I still play like I am a child.

Intuition, memory and grateful humility
of purpose are involved in the vocabulary
process of my work; the same
interconnectedness of the natural
forms, colors and spaces of our
universal environment and higher
consciousness toward ourselves
and each other.

I enjovy investigating the timelessness of what I call the natural forms of music and rhythm within our universe: the ebb and flow of tides, the movement of our planet around its axis, nature's woundrous beaauty, and the constancy of change.

My art pursues light, shape, space and time through the use of color and organic, abstract, and geometric forms. I seek to explore the interconnection between all people and our environment; the harmony and conflict, chaos and balance. My intent is to give motion and buoyancy to combinations of shapes, filling them with symbolic energy and a feeling they are about to take flight.

Through the use and of steel, wood, aluminium, copper, bronze, dyes and paint, I aim to create a sense of surprise, tension, humor and vulnerability - reflecting a balance of life and my personal belief in joy, love and the spontaneity of discovery.
