World Wall

Date: 1999
Media: Stainless Steel, Glass Beads
Dimensions: 8,000 SF/1.1 Million Marbles
Location: Exploris Museum, Raleigh, NC

Exploris is an 80,000 square foot children?s museum in Raleigh, North Carolina, built from a combination of public and private monies.

Working as an artist, my role on the design team was to conceive and design a number of large elements of the building which tell the story of the mission of Exploris: to teach about the similarities and differences between people and cultures around the world. Cladding the largest single element of the building, is an 8,000 square foot, backlit "mural" depicting the world from outer space made with over a million colored glass marbles.
