Birds of Paradise (at night)
2004
18'H x 12'D
Perforated Aluminum (powdercoated), Stainless Steel Bead Chain

This artwork was inspired by bridal veil falls and the forms of flowers and wings. The sculpture consists of eight sculptural petals that are composed like "Ikebana", Japanese flower arranging. From these petals dense veils of polished beads descend to within 18" of the floor. The sculpture moves sensuously in air currents. It is located in the two story front lobby of a new office building situated across from an old quarry near Philadelphia. The artwork brings nature into the space but is also conceived as a work of nature though made of industrial materials. Two West Liberty, Malvern, PA
