The 31 foot long granite arc carries three visually interwoven texts: a time line of the Vendome fire; words of firefighters relating their lives; and the names, birth and death dates of the nine men who died in the fire. The convergence of arc?s highest point, the bronze coat and hat, and description of the fire?s unexpected outcome, direct attention to the site of the fire. Text Excerpts:
