This work combines text with wall sculpture an added dimension, which I hope to explore further.
For an installation, part of the Dictionary Project, I imagine a walk on Cape Cod, collecting specimens and taking notes, perhaps for further study; more likely toward a work of art. Excerpted passages and images have been scanned from the New Century Dictionary of the English Language (1957), digitally altered, enlarged and printed on a 36" wide Inkjet printer.
The sculptural pieces - my 'collected objects' - are fabricated of cast latex coated and filled with clear or colored resin. The three-dimensional drawn lines are steel and copper wire. Some of the pieces have dried botanicals and shredded pages from the New Century Dictionary.
