This sculpture is my interpretation of a red ant larva. The translucency and veining of the alabaster lends itself to an interesting and mysterious effect of a red ant ready to emerge during its pupa stage of development. This detail photo of Larva is backlit to show how transmitted light through the stone evokes a vascular effect of the pupa's brain.
