Mixed Media

'Pressure' is part of a one person installation incorporating light, sound, form and video. The concept is the influence and increasing pressure that media places on us. The work makes use of a 1979 TV console, painted white, with the back panel replaced by plexiglass and lit form inside by LED lights, exposing the outdated electronics. A video of a teapot was filmed and displayed as it reached a full boil and dies down again, with the whistle of the teapot replaced by the sound of multiple channels playing at once. Attached to the top of the TV hutch is an overwhelming steam formation (made from cloth, hoop steel and paper mache) hanging from the ceiling of the warehouse. This sculpture is one of three in this exhibition of the same title.
