At the Service of Others
2008
29 ˝” x 102” x 53”
Bronze

The figure is carried away from its conventional familiarity to become “something else”, broader in concept. The sculpture could be a dining table for eight. But, as it is supported by four large and muscular human legs in a squatting movement, barely touching the ground and pointing at different directions – the sculpture has a complex message. To be “At the Service of Others” is never simple or uncomplicated. The upper frame continues the unusual image of a converted body. It is a rectangle, but it is also a composition of organic body parts that are simultaneously suggestive and mysterious.
