In 1953 “She Wears Red Feathers” was the number one chart topping hit in England. I know this because my father, while red staining a wooden trailer we were refurbishing, told me. Before he was able to read as a child his mother would draw an “X” on the records that he liked. That way he could listen to music while she could work around the house. The story of the song goes that there was a rich English banker who visited a tropical island and brought back a wife. They are wed in the most ridiculous fashion where an elephant gives the bride away and baboons play in the wedding band. Afterward she is found sipping tea along the London streets wearing a hula skirt.
Regardless of the comical nature of the song it teaches that love can be found and relationships can be cultivated between anybody, even fathers and sons.
