LETTER FROM THE PUBLISHER

Cathy christinoI am honored and excited to join the ISC team as Publisher/Director of Marketing for Sculpture magazine. Coming from the world of mass market media and general art publications, it is refreshing to land in a place that is uniquely dedicated to celebrating contemporary sculpture and raising the voices of artists – both established and emerging.

As a must read for artists, collectors, curators, dealers, educators, and enthusiasts, Sculpture is the most respected and internationally read publication in its field – and has been since its launch in 1982. We will continue to provide compelling content, new trends, thought-provoking topics, and inspiration. Our goal is to elicit excitement in every issue and provide a useful, desirable, and actionable service to our readers and advertisers. With your support, we continue to drive the international sculpture conversation with intelligence, comprehension and authenticity, elevating our community and demonstrating the power of art to educate and effect social change.

We consistently bring you the best of Sculpture on all platforms. We have recently launched new Instagram and Facebook pages – please follow us, like and share our posts. Join the conversation! We are launching a Sculpture website to complement and expand our current content and deliver timely information on contemporary sculpture around the world. We are also developing new ideas for the print magazine, engaging emerging technologies to deliver the most responsive design for our digital magazine, and providing innovative marketing solutions for our advertising partners. Take a look at our 2018 Editorial Calendar to get a glimpse of what’s coming your way. It’s going to be an exciting year!

As we continue to evolve the magazine and its various platforms to meet and exceed your expectations, I encourage you to take a fresh look at Sculpture. Share your Sculpture story – I would love to hear it. I look forward to taking this adventure with you!

Thank you for your support,

Cathy Christino

Current Issue

The The October issue of Sculpture looks at sculptors' use of order and disorder, both in culture and perception, from Gabriel Dawe's translucent veils of string to Tai Hwa Goh's floating, paper-based installations and Dylan Mortimer's distinctive blending of spirituality and materialism. October is also our education issue, featuring the work of outstanding students from around the world. Be sure to read about the exceptional young winners of the 2017 Outstanding Student Achievement Awards on page 50. An exhibition of their work will be on view at the Belger Crane Yard Studio in Kansas City, October 6 - November 18, in conjunction with the ISC conference. Finally, this issue also includes an interview with Malcolm Cochran, recipient of the 2017 ISC Educator Award, whose works reveal a mindfulness of small artifacts and occurrences from which he extrapolates large gestures.

Also, in the print and digital version of September's Sculpture magazine - Itinerary, Commissions and ISC News… and more.

“Receiving Sculpture magazine every month brings weeks of enjoyment and
revisiting the past issues is doubly fulfilling. Sometimes those past issues
feel as fresh as the new ones, almost as if I had never seen them before.”
