Quotidiana Bellezza Project – Art Cultures Landscape
International Art in Nature Symposium
Artetica association supported by the Municipality of Villanovaforru (South Sardinia) and “Tourismo in Marmilla” presents “Quotidiana Bellezza – International Symposium of Art in Nature”, the first environmental art symposium in Sardinia, event organized for the International Sculpture Day #ISDay by the International Sculpture Center (Hamilton, NJ, USA).
“Without art, the harshness of reality would make the world unbearable.” G.B. Shaw
The project Quotidiana Bellezza – Art Cultures Landscape in the current climate characterized by the separation between contemporary art and the usual reality of people, has the intent to bring art, considered as an aesthetic experience, into everyday life, and let live moments of significant beauty and sociality through culture.
The choice of the places and venues corresponds to a precise intent: to involve a non-specialist audience, and to act where the sensitivity to these issues is less present, where contemporary art is less known, understood and felt, in the small towns of the province forgotten by the official system contemporary art, where the cultural offer, if present, is linked to tradition, archaeology, and strictly local artistic or handicraft events.
The project will make artworks and artists travel, to produce, in informal contexts, international cultural events; on one side making the people meet and know a different kind of art and different cultures, from the other one making artists know different social contexts and realities, a certain source of knowledge, comparison and inspiration.
Even in the Middle Ages, when the foreigner was not well accepted outside his village, the artists and the master craftsmen were sought after and welcomed everywhere, temporarily entering the most remote communities, overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers and creating the basis for development of art and culture: this type of exchange is what our project aspires to.
It is important to note that the project will be financed without the economic contribution of local authorities, due to the desire not to steal resources from the host territories. The realization is made possible by donations in kind from the local host organizations and from the collaboration and support of the artists and members of Artetica, who also gave their works, created for the Quotidiana Bellezza exhibitions, allowing the organization of an innovative crowdfunding action. The works sent for the exhibitions, as well as the works created during the Symposium, should therefore be understood as an important gift from the artists to the host communities.
The project began for the 2018 Contemporary Art Day with a Mail-art exhibition, with the participation of over 100 artists from all over the world (from Argentina to Russia to China), inserted among the initiatives of the European Year of Culture 2018 and hosted by the Archaeological Museum of Villanovaforru in October 2018 and in San Rocco a Carnago (Varese) in February 2019.
Now, from 22th to 27th April at the Archaeological Park Genna Maria there will be the “open site” of the Symposium: the artists will be at work at the Park under the sight of the public, with the possibility for everyone to be present during the creation and interact with the artists.
On April 27th we will celebrate the International Sculpture Day with an event that wants to make it easy to approach art and creative production, a moment of spontaneous sharing, welcoming for everyone.
In the morning from 11am there will be a participatory art event curated and carried out by Antonio Porru together with all the artists of the Symposium, with the possibility of having for the visitors to participate actively to the Porru’s creation.
From 4pm there will be a public presentation of the works by the artists.
At 5 pm there will be a creative workshop of Art in Nature coordinated by qualified teachers of artistic disciplines and held by the same international artists participating in the Symposium.
From 18.00 onwards there will be the final opening with a “Festa Campestre”: a snack for children and an aperitif for adults, all with local products that will be offered to end the day with a public party, in the places of participatory art, in a meeting dedicated to socializing through culture.
All activities are all free and open to the public, for the Art in Nature Workshop is recommended to book by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
